No WEB DESIGNERS, this is not a business website. I don't need help making the site customer friendly and all that jive. This site is the avocation of a senior citizen reliving his childhood. STOP with all the emails.
This Site is for sharing old school photographs from your school days in the 1950's and 1960's in Southeast Washington DC, where Anacostia High was the only high school around. There are links provided below to about 24 photo albums and shortcut to all those photo albums by way of links, or what I call Tabs, shown on the top page banner above, which take you to the same of those photo albums as found below, but the Tabs have links to other interests, such as school newspapers. The site can be viewed superbly well on your smartphone also.
The school photos displayed below in a rotating gallery of pictures are only teasers meant to show only the sample of all the pictures that are stored elsewhere (call it in the "cloud") which you advance to by clicking on an icon.
Clicking on the "click here" icons will advance you to the "cloud" where you can view all pictures up close and personal. Clicking a second time on any picture in the "cloud" will enlarge the picture.

Recent website additions are:
- I have added the 1955 Ketcham Elementary School 6th grade class of Mrs Gibson's to my Ketcham photo album thanks to Ed Cowan, currently is a Georgia resident, but was a kid was raised in Washington DC's Anacostia neighborhood and attended Ketcham Elementary School graduating in 1955 in Mrs Schwoerer's class. I have updated Mrs Schwoerer's 6th grade class picture showing Ed Cowan's location.
- I have added the 1953 Kramer Junior High School January Class picture to my SCHOOL PHOTOS albums found along the top of this page. Thank you goes to Ms. Terry Spence, daughter of Marie Britton, for sending me the picture following her mother's death. With the help of Ms. Spence, Patrick Clarke, Bob Dornes, Joan Bell and Janice Craig I was able to add the names shown in the picture.
- I have added the Commencement Program for the January 1953 class of Kramer Junior High School. Find the link to all Commencement Programs at the very bottom on this page. Remember to click a second time inside the pic for it to enlarge. Thanks to Terry Spence, daughter of Marie Britton, for sending me the Program and the Kramer class picture following her mother's death. Knowing the names of those who stood for the class picture should help to identify who is in the class picture which Terry Spence also provided.
- Added a new video slideshow of pictures taken at the 1960 Anacostia High School 55th Reunion to my HIGH SCHOOL REUNION album tab seen at the top of this page. Select the tab, then select 1960 Anacostia and then select the 55 year Reunion.
- 1959 Anacostia Pow Wow newspapers Issues #2 through #9 have been added to my School Newspaper tab thanks to Bobby Distin (AHS 1959). In doing so I have relocated the School Newspaper tab to the top of this page for easy access. Click on the tab to open a dropdown menu and navigate to the Pow Wow of your choice. I have used the Flirkr photo storage website to improve the display of the newspapers pages which when you to click twice within the picture, it will enlarge, enhancing readability. Each Pow Wow page is 11"x17".
- An Anne Beers Elementary School picture sent me by Charlie Riecks (AHS 1961) of his 4th or 5th grade in 1952 or 1953 showing a class project learning TV broadcasting productions wherein on the wall appears a Louie Allen weather forecast drawing for March 16th drawn by Louie Allen in the fashion he was famous for drawing. For Your Information : All the links to photos found further down this page connect to the same photos found on the tabs at the top of the web page.

Before Seattle had their Starbucks,
Washington DC had their Wilkins Coffee.
Talk about some old commercials,....Wilkins had them also. They are so politically incorrect in today's society but back in the 60's they were what helped Jim Henson's Muppet's and Kermit become popular. Before Kermit was green.
